The family of Diana monkeys Feldman Ecopark was expanded with the new settlers. The couple of monkeys arrived to Ecopark within the program of free exchange between zoos of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The representatives of this very rare species of monkeys included in the IUCN Red List as the species which are at risk of disappearing now accustom to the Ecopark, having lodged in the open enclosures. They feel well.<\/p>\n
As experts note, the Diana monkeys are not only very bright and beautiful, but also playful, active, friendly and inquisitive animals. “It is too soon to comment on the character of beginners, they get used to us, as well as we do. But the Ecopark’s keepers created for the arrived monkeys all conditions in order they become more accustomed to the new place. We hope that they will become favorites of the Ecopark’s guests, – noted the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valery Ivashchenko. \u2013 The newcomer’s diet consists of porridges, fruit with vegetables, fish, meat, cottage cheese and also vitamin supplements”.<\/p>\n
Let’s remind that three Diana monkeys arrived to the Ecopark several months ago. In total about 200 monkeys live in the Regional Landscape Park \u2013 it is the biggest collection of primacies in Ukraine. In general more than 2 thousand animals live in the Ecopark.<\/p>\n
Let’s note that the Diana monkeys, or bearded monkeys, in nature inhabit the jungle of the Western Africa near the Atlantic coast. The Diana’s body length ranges from 40 to 55 cm, the tail has length to 70 cm. Adult individuals weigh 4-7 kg. They live in groups consisting of one adult male leader, his harem and cubs. The Diana monkeys eat generally fruit and insects, also flowers, new leaves and invertebrates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
