The specialists of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation of the Feldman Ecopark Anton Vlashchenko and Ksenia Kravchenko took part in the IV All-Polish Conference of Young Scientists in Mammalogy (the study of mammals), which traditionally took place in Poland, at the University of Wroc\u0142aw.<\/p>\n
Ksenia made a report about summer bat communities in deciduous forests of Eastern Europe. A young scientist told the counterparts about the spreading of bats in the north and the east of Ukraine, as well as in European part of Russia. These data were collected by Kharkiv Cheiroptera specialists and their colleagues during four years.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the main conclusions of the research was the fact that rare species of bats and their high number maintains only in the forests without felling,\u201d Ksenia Kravchenko told. \u201cBats feel good only in old forest reserves, where even dry woods are not cut down. In other cases, and there are a lot of them, the destruction of dry and hollow trees by people forces bats to leave forest areas and find new shelters in the neighbouring villages and cities.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to reports, the excursion to the Krkono\u0161e National Park was organized with Sn\u011b\u017eka mountain climbing.<\/p>\n
During the conference, Anton Vlashchenko and Ksenia Kravchenko not only met with the specialists and scientific groups from Krak\u00f3w, Pozna\u0144, Bia\u0142ystok and Gdansk, they also got useful consultations in the area of bats\u2019 study.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
