The Centre of psychosocial rehabilitation of the Feldman Ecopark, which is the project of the ICF \u201cOleksandr Feldman Foundation,\u201d launched the work of the room for psychosocial rehabilitation of children and teenagers. The consulting room is situated on 70, Sumska Str. (Kharkiv) and it holds the reception of patients gives the individual psychological consultations, and works with the groups of children and the families.<\/p>\n
The psychological head of the Centre, the Candidate of Psychological Sciences Tetiana Aliieva told that according to the results of the work of the Centre on the territory of the Ecopark, the need in additional direction of psychocorrective measures implementation appeared; and it was satisfied by the opening of the psychocorrection room. \u201cOn the territory of the Ecopark, the work with children is carried out under the interaction with the nature and communication with animals. It is very important for the rehabilitation of children. However, it is also necessary to have a standard room, allowing the work regardless of weather conditions. The preparatory stage of psychocorrective lessons for children takes place in the room,\u201d Tetiana Aliieva notes.<\/p>\n
According to the words of the medical head of the Centre, the Candidate of Psychological Sciences Inna Vashkite, here, the patients get their individual schedules for rehabilitations, and after that, they go to the Feldman Ecopark, where the animal-assisted therapy is provided. The tasks of the consulting room are the following: preparation of children and parents to the psychocorrective work, getting into contact with children, individual work with children and their preparation to interaction with people around.<\/p>\n
The room divided into two areas for convenience \u2013 the playground and the working zone. The playground is also the place to work with children: art therapy, sand tray therapy, music therapy, and group role games. The working zone was intended for parents\u2019 consulting, for group work with parents, for educational lessons for parents, children and for specialists.<\/p>\n
Depending on the age, and the similarity of problems, the groups for work consist of 6-8 children. No more than two groups may have lessons in the room during a day. The Centre of psychosocial rehabilitation works with teenagers and children aged 3 and older. These are children with special needs, with the difficult behavioural and emotional problems, as well as psychological ones. Children of the junior age group are often taken to the Centre due to the delay in speech development, hyperactive disorders, autism, and other psychological problems. There is also the educative training for children, who just want to get new development experience. All services are free of charge.<\/p>\n
The room will also have a physiological component: the skilled physical therapist will work with children\u2019s sleep restoration using cranial electrotherapy stimulation.<\/p>\n
The heads of the Centre told that the room will be also used for the work with schoolchildren within the pilot project on the introduction of the inclusive education (when a child with special needs studies in common class with the help of educational psychologist), which is planned to be implemented in Kharkiv.<\/p>\n
The Centre also plans to open another one similar consulting room on the territory of the Feldman Ecopark.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that the Centre of psychosocial rehabilitation started its work in 2013. The professional psychologists and psychotherapists provide complex psychological and social assistance to children and teenagers with mental disorders, deviant behavious, and to the families, who encountered difficult circumstances.
