The Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman registered in the Verkhovna Rada the bill on amendment of the Art. 8 of the Law of Ukraine \u201cOn Consumer Rights Protection\u201d (concerning the responsibility of Internet shops for improper quality of goods).<\/p>\n
\u201cMore and more consumers buy products in the Internet shops. At the same time, these kinds of shops are not always the direct sellers of goods. Sometimes, they are just places for ads. Anyone may be a seller, including those who are not the economic entities. In this case, the purchase will not be covered by the requirements of the Law of Ukraine \u201cOn Consumer Rights Protection\u201d with all that it implies,\u201d the bill\u2019s author notes.<\/p>\n
The bill offers to make an Internet shop and a seller responsible jointly in case the shop is not able to provide the real name, place of residence and contact information of the seller.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese changes will favour the more efficient protection of consumer rights,\u201d Mr. Feldman explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it is impossible to find the seller, a buyer will be able to demand the replacement of value of defective goods from the Internet shop. After the demand is satisfied, the shop has the right of recourse to the seller. That is why, the shop will be interested not only in placing the detailed information about the sellers, but will also verify this information,\u201d the explanatory note to the bill states.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that the latest version of the current Law of China on consumer rights protection contains the similar rule about the joint responsibility for the Internet shop uses as a site for e-commerce.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
