Very warm and sunny summer weather has set in Ukraine. Not only people suffer from heat, but also animals. It is often even harder for them, as they are \u2018wearing\u2019 warm fur and are not always able to take care of themselves. The specialists of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue \u201cFeldman Ecopark Good Home\u201d tell how people can help animals to go through heat.<\/p>\n
The special attention shall be paid to kids and old animals, dogs of brachycephalic breeds, obese animals and the ones with chronic diseases. If an animal feels bad, demonstrates atypical behaviour, please, take it to the veterinarian as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
It is better for an animal to stay in cool premises with AC (but do not make it too cold for an animal not to catch a cold). Your animal shall have a constant access to water. If your animal is hot, wet its head with water. It is better to walk an animal in the morning and in the evening avoiding blazing sun. Never leave your animal in a closed car in summer. Regularly comb out your animal and get rid of mats.<\/p>\n
Do not forget that apart from your pets, there are a lot of stray dogs and cats in the city, which have no one to care of them. Do not be indifferent, after all a container with water left somewhere in the shadow may save health and life of an animal.<\/p>\n
Heat stroke symptoms: shallow breathing, excessive salivation, vacant look, slow reaction, stumbling movements, hot and dry skin, hyperthermia, rapid pulse, convulsions. A suffering animal shall be moved to a cold place and cooled. Do not use icy water. It is better to pour cool water on belly and underarms, sprinkle from spray, wet the animal\u2019s mouth and put a wet towel on its head (but do not cover the whole body).
