Ukraine\u2019s first interactive dactyl alphabet was presented in Feldman Ecopark today, May 24, within the framework of the project To Hear with Heart. A wooden construction of the alphabet was created by children with hearing disorders \u2013 the students of Kharkiv Special Educational Complex \u2013 in order to overcome the barriers of communication between hearing people and the ones with hearing disorders.<\/p>\n
Within the framework of the alphabet festive opening, a dance flash mob from an inclusive project Total Answer Danc\u0435 took place.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe society is afraid of us and does not understand us,\u201d our children tell. In order to change the situation, they have submitted an application and won a grant, as the result of which this alphabet appeared here for the little visitors to Ecopark. Our children visit the Multi-Complex regularly, that is why it is very pleasant for them to place their first alphabet exactly here,\u201d the deputy director of the Special Educational Complex Halyna Kuklina told.<\/p>\n
The To Hear with Heart project won a grant from UPSHIFT Ukraine \u2013 the UNICEF\u2019s programme implemented under the support of the European Union. \u201cWhen children visiting Ecopark see this alphabet and get to know what it is, they will understand that there are children who do not hear, but it is possible and it is necessary to communicate with them as well, but by other means,\u201d the communication manager of UPSHIFT Ukraine Liudmyla Kutsenko emphasized.<\/p>\n
Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation has a huge experience of work with different categories of children, including the ones with hearing disorders. Therefore, it will provide support to the students of Kharkiv Special Educational Complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we had the first meeting with these children. Accompanied by the experts, they got to know Ecopark, and we discussed the perspective co-operation steps. In the future, we will be able to develop and introduce the programme of psychosocial rehabilitation for these children,\u201d the head of psychological service of Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Tetiana Alieva noted. \u201cAfter all, the children who encounter these peculiarities of development, may suffer from anxiety, shyness, self-doubt and other psychological problems. And they need to learn to overcome them. The experts of our Centre will help them in this, in particular, by introducing them to the specific nature of animal-assisted therapy. Children will have a great positive experience from communication with animals, which help to transfer emotions and overcome fears.\u201d<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that the work with people with special needs is one of the main fields of activities of Feldman Ecopark from the moment of its establishment. Since 2013, its structure includes the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation, the experts of which render assistance to children and adults with different diseases and disorders using modern methods. In addition, inclusive lessons are given in the Children\u2019s Ecology and Nature Study Academy of Feldman Ecopark, while in summer, there are special sessions in the children\u2019s health improving and educational camp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
