Spring is time when bats (all species living in Ukraine are included in the Red List) wake up after hibernation. The specialists of the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark tell about what should be done if you found a bat on the street, or it flew into your house.<\/p>\n
“The most important thing \u2014 do not take a small animal barehanded, it can painfully bite you. A bat is frightened even more, than you are. If you found a bat on the earth, pick it up with a piece of cloth, a cap or gloves. Bats usually do not spend time on the earth, so, the small animal can be injured or weakened. The bat found on the earth must be brought to the specialists of the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark” \u2014 the specialists tell.<\/p>\n
“If a bat flew into your house and behaves actively, this usually happens in the summer, you must let it out. For this purpose, block the way to other rooms and open a window. Make sure that a small animal haven’t huddled up somewhere. If you saw a bat has been flying long enough and sat down on a wall, you can accurately remove it wearing thick or leather gloves. If you release a small animal from a hand, you must do it in the evening, and only if temperature is over 2\u00baC. Hold your hand with a bat above the ground, do not release it from a window or a balcony \u2014 the bat could be injured while searching for an exit from your apartment. If the animal is warm to the touch, but doesn’t want to fly away, it is necessary to report the specialists of our Center about it \u2014 emphasized in the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark. \u2014 If you found a bat at your apartment, but it almost doesn’t move and shouts loudly, perhaps, it’s just awoken from wintering. Such happens in the winter and at the beginning of spring. Such individual cannot be released under any circumstances; a bat must be brought to our specialists. If it is summer or fall, then put a small animal in a box and release it in the evening (on the condition that the temperature is over 2\u00baC)”.<\/p>\n
