During the past months, “passions” around Trading Centre “Barabashovo” run high. What happens at one of the largest trading facilities of Eastern Europe? Whether it is really about attempts of hostile takeovers of the Trading Centre! What do entrepreneurs want and why the MP Oleksandr Feldman, who stood at the origin of the establishment of Barabashovo more than twenty years ago, had to intervene in this situation?<\/p>\n
\u2014 Twenty three years ago on the place of a dump we’ve started establishment of an object which became a lifeline for tens of thousands of people who were left without work and actually without means of support in the 90s.Today, Barabashovo is the hallmark of Kharkiv, tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and buyers daily. For us, it was rather risky step: sleepless nights and 18-20 hours of work every day. By the way, nobody had a wish to enter the project. Other get-rich-quick schemes connected, first of all, with so-called privatization “grab-it-ization” were popular. As soon as Barabashovo got on feet, it became attractive at once to those who got used to fight for ready-made. We haven’t enough fingers on hands to count all attempts of hostile takeovers of Barabashovo. All of them were unsuccessful. Today, there are certain indicators of wish to involve the hostile scheme concerning the \u0415rading Centre. They are unpromising, as well as previous ones. I’ve always said that there is a lot more abandoned wastelands and dumps in the city. Everyone wishing to build large Trading Centre from scratch can realize his enthusiasm there. You won’t be able to intimidate me. I categorically do not accept language of ultimatums and pressure tactics. What do entrepreneurs want? They want to work and earn. They want stability and peace in the Trading Centre.<\/p>\n
\u2014 But you cannot deny the fact that some of entrepreneurs regularly attend rallies, make demands to administration of the Trading Centre about revision of the policy connected with rental rates, and address the mayor Hennadii Kernes. At the same time, other group of entrepreneurs, which asks to protect them from \u00abtroublemakers\u00bb in the market preventing them from taking up work, asks you for patronage.
\n\u2013 Everyone has the right to his opinion and position. Alas, often happens when people who didn’t find themselves in economy decide to try hand at other capacity, having made business from organization and participation in rallies and campaigns. It doesn’t mean that they can be ignored. Especially, by the mayor. Therefore, the establishment of working group was absolutely logical; the mayor’s participation in its operation was absolutely justified.
\nBarabashovo is a large social infrastructure facility. Preservation of its stable work is a shared responsibility. Someone wants to present a situation as war, to involve people in the conflict and does not hesitate while choosing means. The dirtiest and low, cave methods when entrepreneurs are divided on the basis of nation or religion, when “the language card” is once again played are used. Business is always international. Barabashovo comprises entrepreneurs representing more than forty nationalities. However, all of them are Kharkiv citizens who work in the city and for the city, who prove the love to the city by payment of taxes and generating employment, but not an idle radical nationalist gossip. Each of them must feel protection and respect. Certainly, not everyone can speak Ukrainian. That takes time. Perhaps, it will happen tomorrow. Nevertheless, I agree with the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov that today we have to respect those our citizens who got used to read, think and express the position in Russian.
\n\u2014 What’s the price of peace at Barabashovo and what are you willing to do to finish this fighting?<\/p>\n
\u2014 I repeat once again: there is no war, much as one may wish to present situation in that light. The situation on Barabashovo is too much politicized. There are attempts of the organization of battlefield. They, as a rule, are sharply shown during the election campaigns. This one is not an exception. There is a wish to receive the maximum number of supporters here and now, and then \u2013 no matter what happens. Now, for example, one of “activists” publicly collects entrepreneurs in groups for the candidate for president of observers, reasoning with the fact that his supporters came on the market not for nothing. However, elections will take place, all posters about need of industry restoration, reduction of price for everything, support of business, the social sphere, etc. will be removed. And our problems will remain. Kharkiv has lots of them. What are the economic prospects for Kharkiv? What are our growth points during the difficult period for the city, connected with losses of the markets? How to stop large-scale catastrophic out-migration from Kharkiv? What infrastructure projects allowing people to remain in their hometown and to have an opportunity to earn decent money, can and must appear in the city? For the solution of these issues, it is necessary to call to the full mobilization of all indifferent for the city people. The Kharkiv entrepreneurs can and must become drivers of development. They just know the price of peace and realize its value for prosperity and wellbeing of the business. Besides, it is necessary to think of increase in the city budget, highlight new sources of funding, which will allow providing everything – from medical institutions to kindergartens – at worthy level. There shouldn’t be much concern about filling of municipal exchequer constantly appear in focus of attention of social activists and monitoring structures. The economic crisis passes into social, and finishes with political instability. We have to resist this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
