Nearly one hundred bats have been brought to the Ukraine\u2019s first and only Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ekopark from the Volyn oblast. Animals were found during window replacement in one of State institutions of Volodymyr-Volynskyi. They were carefully gathered and brought to veterinarians, who then in turn brought bats to animal protection activists. Bats were safely brought to the Center and now rehabilitated \u2013 prepare for return to hibernation. The animals are being weighed, fed and watered, prepared for a wintering.<\/p>\n
“Our Center received call from Anna Doskoch, who actively participate in animal rescue. We have already worked collaboratively with her in February last year \u2013 then Anna reported about 17 individuals of common noctules rescued in the Lutsk zoo and released in the same place. This time agreed about transportation to our Center of 90 common noctules. On Friday, animals were safely brought to Kharkiv with the assistance of volunteers \u2014 Oleksandra Kysel, the specialist of the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark told. \u2014 Now we attentively examine each individual and render veterinary assistance if required. Then we give water, weigh if a bat is underweight, and feed with bug larvae. After that we ring bats, place in sacks and put into refrigerators with necessary temperature condition \u2013 there bats will stay in a state of suspended animation up to spring. When it gets warmer, we will release bats here, in Feldman Ecopark, or return them home to the Volyn oblast”.<\/p>\n
It should be reminded that the Bat Rehabilitation Center of Feldman Ecopark is a unique animal protection organization not only for Ukraine, but also for entire Eastern Europe. Since its establishment, it rescued more than 12,000 bats, all species of which are in Ukrainian Red Book. The rescued and rehabilitated animals are returned to the nature.
