On October 14, the exhibition Cossack’s Intercession will be opened in the National Sanctuary “Sophia of Kiev.” The residents and guests of Kyiv will be able to look at the rare collection of Cossack’s old weapons and signet rings of the Cossack leaders. The oldest exhibits are coeval with the foundation of Zaporozhian Sich.
The exhibition halls of Khlibna Gallery on the territory of Sophia of Kiev will demonstrate more than 40 samples of melee weapon: sabres, yataghans, knives, daggers, spearheads and tips of bear spears, chisels, and even a cannon of the end of 16th century. It is a legendary weapon, which was held by our warriors centuries ago to gain and defend our freedom. Moreover, the visitors will be able to look at the signet rings of the Cossack leaders – the symbols of military valour and power.
Cossack’s Intercession is an intermuseum project of the National Sanctuary “Sophia of Kiev” and Feldman Family Museum. It is really hard to overrate the exhibits from the collection of the public figure, patron and collector Oleksandr Feldman – they are the priceless relics of the Cossacks.
The name of the project speaks for itself. From time immemorial, the Cossacks considered Our Most Holy Lady a protector of Ukraine, and the Intercession of the Theotokos was the main feast for them. The exhibition is devoted to all Ukrainian warriors, who made their common cause at different times.
Various events are expected within the framework of the project: lectures, master classes, film shows, discussions and thematic excursions.
The Cossack’s Intercession exhibition in Khlibna Gallery at the National Sanctuary “Sophia of Kiev” (24, Volodymyrska Str., Kyiv) will be open from October 14 to January 15.
