Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman commented on the killing of the former member of the State Duma of Russia Denis Voronenkov in Kyiv.
“Terror and fear – it is the new weapon of mass destruction. The worst thing is that it is impossible to restrict and to control the access to this weapon. A common truck, gun or knife is enough to commit a cruel attack on peaceful people, to spread fear and panic. It is impossible to call the events of the recent days even as warning. Everything has happened already; the new reality is here, on the streets of our cities,” the politician noted. “The shooting of the former member of the State Duma Denis Voronenkov, whatever motives were used to commit it, is another link in the general chain of ‘black swans.’ I think we all should admit the fact that our views of threats and security have become irretrievably out of date. All approaches to safety measures are out-of-date as well.”
Oleksandr Feldman expressed the support to the security officials, as it is a very difficult time for them. “They will have to answer the questions. Later. But now, it is very important to keep calm, to display vigilance, to support each other. We can overcome any trials if we are united,” he emphasized.
It should be reminded that Denis Voronenkov, who obtained Ukrainian citizenship and testified in the case of high treason of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, was shot on March 23 at the hotel entry.
